Despite the general awfulness of the Christmas song there are however always exceptions to the rule, and I have a short list of personal favorites.
Without
exception all my choices not only include the song but the best performer of
that song and so in no particular order here is my third selection.
“Let
it Snow” written by Sammy Cahn and sung by Dean Martin
Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
After the Krsna Slava ceremony In Serbia & Montenegro the Slava candle is never blown out.
It has to be extinguished with wine from a glass and then the glass is passed around
for each member of the family to take a sip.
This symbolizes the constancy and unity of the family within the orthodox
faith.
Santa Claus (Judd Nelson) is on notice from the board, represented by Constance (Jean Yoon), as a result of children becoming too greedy and must prove otherwise before his part in Christmas is cancelled.
Santa is given a
mission, to be completed by Christmas Eve, to change the behaviour of three
hopeless cases, and along with his Elf Randal (Justin Landry) they get jobs as
janitors at a private school posing as Kris Frost and Mr Elfman.
The first target
was Adam (John Fleming) the son of schoolteacher Jeannie Claymore (Natalie
Brown), and the other two were an incorrigible pair of troublemakers, Farley
Morgan (Sante Scaletta) and Steve Rojack (Connor Price).
Connie also gives
Santa a special mobile phone, and when he has succeeded, and each boy has
performed an act of charity, the phone will ring, and although Kris and Elfman
have their work cut out but the children are no real match for them.
It’s a very
enjoyable film but for me Mr Elfman steals the show.
The “Twelve days of Christmas” are the 12 days that separate Christmas day, December 25, from Epiphany, on January 6.
In one of the wealthier districts of Edmonton the residents try to out-do each other by decorating the outsides of their homes, not much different from any other place you might think, however the competitive nature of the streets occupiers has reached the point that the street has become known as “Candy cane Lane.”
