THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – COUNTRY CHRISTMAS ALBUM (2018)

As a result of country music starlet Tess Stapleton (Hannah Barefoot) suffering falling album sales, her label and manager force her to record a Christmas album with ex-teen heartthrob and pop-star Derek Copeland (Evan Gamble).

Her first reaction is to say no but if she did the label planned to drop her, so she reluctantly agrees.

At first, they appear to be polar opposites, though to their mutual surprise, as the album shapes up, they find themselves growing closer as they get nearer to Christmas.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – SWITCHED FOR CHRISTMAS (2017)

Candace Cameron Bure stars in this gem of a Christmas Movie, as estranged twin sisters, Kate Lockhart and Chris Dixon.

Both women are unhappy and frustrated with their own lives, Kate is a successful executive with a great apartment and no social life and divorced mother of two Chris is an underappreciate school teacher. Though they hadn’t been close for a number of years, they are each envious of the other's life.

After being tricked into having a pre-Christmas brunch by their father (Walter Platz) a year after their mother's death, they talk during the meal and the two voice their belief that the other has an easier life than the other but they are unable to convince the other.

So an impasse was reached so they do what any identical twins in need of new outlooks would do: they swap lives until Christmas Day, and by doing so, each woman discovers the true meaning of her life and gains a deeper perspective and appreciation for what she already had.”

FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS CAROL # 12 IN DULCI JUBILO

IN DULCI JUBILO

Words by Heinrich Suso and Traditional Music

In dulci jubilo
Let us our homage show
Our heart's joy reclineth
In praesepio
And like a bright star shineth
Matris in gremio,
Alpha es et O!

O Jesu parvule,
My heart is sore for Thee
Hear me, I beseech Thee
O puer optime
My praying let it reach Thee!
O princeps gloriae.
Trahe me post te.

O patris caritas!
O Nati lenitas!
Deeply were we stained
Per nostra crimina
But Thou for us hast gained
Coelorum gaudia,
Qualis gloria!

Ubi sunt gaudia,
If that they be not there?
There are Angels singing
Nova cantica;
And there the bells are ringing
In Regis curia.
O that we were there!

I WATCHED A SNOW FLAKE MELT

We step through the door

To enjoy the seasonal fare

Chestnuts roasting in the fire

The smell of cinnamon is in the air

I watched a snow flake melt

On her glistening auburn hair

As we held hands in the soft light

Of the Christmas candle glow

Then I gave her a little parcel

Tied up in ribbon with a bow

And I kissed my first love

Beneath a sprig of mistletoe

CHRISTMAS WRAP

When I was a kid and it came time for the “oldies” to open their presents I was always amazed by the fuss they would make about the wrapping paper.

They would first admire it then they would caress it tenderly and then they would gingerly begin to unwrap the gift.

Once unwrapped they would first set aside the gift while they carefully folded the wrapping paper so it could be used again the following year then they would examine the gift.

This ritual would be repeated with each subsequent present and would be performed by all.

I can only think that this was as a result of having been through the hard times.

The depression of the thirties, the shortages of the war years and the austerity of the fifties.

My mum would go through the whole ritual and would carefully tuck her pile of wrapping paper, Bows and ribbons away in the sideboard draw “Ready for next year”.

Come the next year and the fabulous treasures which had been so thoughtfully secreted away were nowhere to be seen only new wrapping paper, Bows and ribbons.

So I think to myself sanity has been restored this year it will be about the presents not what they were wrapped in.

But no, on Christmas day it’s the same thing all over again.

FAIRY TRADITION

One Christmas, a long time ago

Santa Claus was trying to prepare

For the biggest night of the year

But events left him in despair

A flu epidemic hit the North Pole

And decimated the Elves

And a shortage of helpers

Meant there were empty shelves

The reindeer were rebellious

And Rudolph’s nose was Normal

His parcel sack had a hole in it

And Mrs Claus was menopausal

As a result of all his trials

He was not in the best frame of mind

So when a Fairy approached him

With good intent and being kind

Who was carrying an evergreen

And the Fairy asked cheerfully
“Where would you like me to put

This lovely Christmas Tree?”

Because of his really bad mood

He answered her unseasonably

And thus began the tradition

Of a Fairy atop the Christmas tree

Sarah is sympathetic but decides almost at once that she and her brother Cody will try to make the parade happen.

But then a famous entitled Hollywood star, Graham (Kristoffer Polaha) arrives at the ranch to “learn the ropes” as he is preparing for an upcoming movie.

Despite disliking him at first sight Sarah soon starts Graham's instruction and soon begins to warm to him, and he to her, and she finds he is a valuable helper with the parade, and she gets more for Christmas than she bargained for, but can he help her to save the struggling ranch from being sold?

But then Ryan Bellamy (Teddy Sears) and daughter Zoe (Jaeda Lily Miller) make an unscheduled stop in Evergreen on their way to the airport to catch a plane to Florida.

In the diner run by Allies parents Carol and Joe (Barbara Niven and Malcolm Stewart) there is a special snow globe which if you shake it and make a wish, magic can happen.

Allie, in the hope that it might spur Spenser into action, wishes this will be her most romantic Christmas ever.

Zoe also makes a wish that she and her dad can spend Christmas in Evergreen and as a result a snow storm closes the airport and Allie does get her romantic Christmas.
