THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – CHRISTMAS COUPLES RETREAT (2023)

 

Three couples, Hannah and Daniel (Christene Marie and Vincent De Paul), Brenda and Caleb (Karina Michel and Tony Divirgilio) and Avery and Jocelyn (Dana Jamison and Sherrod Taylor) attend a book club Christmas getaway led by Dr Fiona Gerard (Vanessa Meadows), a famous therapist whose book they have been featuring at their book club, but she has feelings of her own to work through.

The couple’s book into to the Gramercy Park resort to strengthen their respective relationships, but not everything goes according to plan because Hannah and Daniels son Kevin (Brandon Tyler Russell) arrives at the retreat uninvited and falls for the manager Britney Snowfeld (Leah Villone) but no one sees the unexpected revelations coming.

By day Paola (Paola Cortellesi) is a popular and compassionate primary school teacher but by night she is Befana the Christmas Witch who brings gifts to deserving children on the 6th of January.

But when she is kidnapped by toy maker Mr. Johnny (Stefano Fresi) who wants her list of children and their wishes so he can take over from her, it’s up to a group of her pupils rescue her.

To cheer up her sad niece Jess Cameron (Jennifer Pisana), Aunt Millie (Brenda Blethyn) tells her the tale of a young ice skater Katie Andrews (Zoe Warner)

and an enchanted reindeer called Blizzard (voiced by Whoopi Goldberg) and their magical friendship.

Blizzard uses her special powers to help Katie after her father is laid off and they have to move to the city but by doing so Blizzard risks being banished from Santa's village.

Andrea (Jennifer Taylor) is an ad executive who is forced into attending a film shoot on Christmas morning and she has a disastrous day at work and at home.

Santa (Peter Xifo) suggests that a wish on the Christmas star might help her, so she makes her wish to relive the day and gets more than she bargained for.

So she has to relive the day over and over like “Groundhog day” until she figures out that’s she's been missing precious time with her family, husband John (Gary Poux) and children Lexi and Matt (Julia Terranova and JJ Whyte) and needs to find a way to fix it.

Emily Robertson (Sarah Power) is grieving after losing her mother Ruby Robertson (Dana Fradkin) in early November when she finds a letter from her late mother.

The letter reveals a last wish for Emily to fulfil, a twelve-task Christmas Checklist, which is a daunting task for her.

While she is completing the first task she meets local freelance writer Noah Carver (Jarod Joseph) who wants to cover her compelling story, but she is reluctant however she accepts his offer to help and as they work together they discover that Ruby's final wish has been in front of them the whole time.

San Francisco based single mother Maddy (Stacey Farber) is heading home to Park City, Utah, for Christmas with her adopted preteen son Wesley (Benjamin Jacobson) who is interested in finding out more about his biological family tree after a school project.

On arriving home she meets widowed ski and snowboard shop owner Paul (Brendan Penny) raising his son Cody (Azriel Dalman) who is also adopted and the two boys become immediate friends and a romance blossom between Maddy and Paul.

It turns out that not only are both boys adopted but they are actually brothers.

Olivia James (Brigitte Kingsley) is a talented artist who was spotted by Mr. Johnson (Art Hindle) and is selected for inclusion in his “Winter Wonderland Exhibit” and begins dating his son Bradley (Frank Chiesurin).

However on the night of the opening she literally bumped into schoolteacher Jake Hartley (Joe Towne) and there was an instant attraction and later when a fire destroys the gallery, he saves her best piece from the flames.

Her artistic dreams have to be put on hold, so she accepts an art teaching job at a local elementary school to make ends meet and meets Jake Hartley again and ends up helping him with the school's Christmas show.

She soon rediscovers why she became an artist and begins to find her true self again, but when she discovers that the art show is back on but clashes with the students big Christmas concert she is Torn.

She breaks up with Bradley after he pressurises her to quit teaching as has discovered a newfound happiness, as her developing feelings for Jake deepen, she discovers her true self, a new sense of purpose, and a surprising romance.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – MERRY GOOD ENOUGH (2023)

 

Lucy (Raye Spielberg) returns home to spend Christmas with her dysfunctional family, Siblings Tim and Cynthia (Daniel Desmarais and Comfort Clinton) and her mother (Susan Gallagher) but when her mother disappears on Christmas Eve her father George (Joel Murray) puts in a brief appearance.

In the end it’s up to her to try and bring the family back together while she reconnects with Sam (Sawyer Spielberg).

At the last minute an opportunity arises so her grandmother arranges accommodation with acquaintances of hers, the Opperman family, and while she is there, she falls for their son Lukas (Frédéric Brossier) a local artisan who helps her reconnect with her lost heritage.

None the less everyone likes Dudley with the possible exception of Henry.

As Christmas approaches Henry begins to believe that Dudley is there to replace him, at work, and with his family’s affections.

Sarah (Aeon Cruz) and Kevin (Scott Mitchell) have been best friends since childhood when they first realised, they both had Christmas Day birthdays and every year they have a cake with candles to mark the occasion, together in her tree house to begin with and via facetime when they were apart.

But when Kevin returns to their hometown to open his own veterinary practice just in time for Christmas, they fall back into the easy friendship they have always shared until her boss shows an interest in him their relationship takes on a different hue and a budding romance appears to be bubbling just beneath the surface.

On Christmas Eve a pair of bumbling crooks Nan and Shez (Geneviève Lemon and  Bridie McKim) break into the struggling Harrington and Sons toy store and take the owner Derrick (Matt Okine) and employee Pete (Ed Oxenbould) hostage and demand a ransom from his estranged sister Terri (Vivienne Awosoga) who owns a successful computer games company.

So it’s up to pregnant security guard Gladys (Miranda Tapsell) and a pair of mischievous kids Brady and Wombat (Tahlia Sturzaker and Evan Stanhope) to save the day in shades of “Die Hard”

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – A PICTURE PERFECT CHRISTMAS (2023)

 

Ceci Carmichael (Kimberley Sustad) is a photographer for the local newspaper in the small-town of Harmony Bay who is still grieving the recent loss of her father and as a result has cancelled the local Christmas tradition he created called “Good Night” at which the townspeople decorate trees on the Carmichael grounds, with the proceeds from the Christmas tree sales being donated to charitable causes.

One day she is out taking photos when she witnesses an accident where a motorcyclist Sam Calloway (Mark Ghanimé) crashes in the woods, so she goes to his aid and saves his life, but in the moments before losing consciousness he asks her to marry him.
However when she visits him in the hospital, she discovers he’s a property developer  and she suspects he is trying to buy the parcel of land owned jointly by her and her step mother Vivian (Karen Kruper).

However once misunderstandings are straightened out, unexpected events unfold, and suddenly they are a couple, and they find themselves reviving her father's tradition.
