THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – A MISSION FOR CHRISTMAS

This is the story of Good Samaritan Sarah Fitzpatrick (Lindsey Gort) who has a fatal accident just before Christmas, and finds herself in the “lobby” within touching distance of the gates of Heaven where she meets Daphne (Kathleen Rose Perkins), who is St Peters successor, who has some unwelcome news for her.

Having walked the Christian path and lead a good life Sarah is certain that she will be let in, but she is shocked to find out that her name is not on the reservation list, and as she was not “Good” enough the enter and too “Good” for the other place she seems destined for an eternity in purgatory.

However, she is granted the chance to return to Earth as an “angel in training” with the requirement to help a soul in need.

The needy soul we find out is her ex-boyfriend Jordan (Derek Theler) who she broke up with on Christmas Eve a year prior to her own passing.
Sarah has the 12 days before Christmas to secure her place on the list to enter heaven by making Jordan move on and begin a new life with Amanda and her son Mason (Melanie Liburd and Caleel Harris).

Jeremy Luke puts in a very creditable performance as Jordan’s friend Stuart in this is a very enjoyable film which I would readily recommend, even though it has a really dumb ending.

CHRISTMAS EVE IN THE WORKHOUSE # 1

It’s Christmas Eve in the workhouse,

And not a hint of the seasons in sight

No stockings hang by the fire side

They’ll be no treats in store tonight

MY VERY WORST CHRISTMAS EVER

My very worst Christmas ever

Was when I got an empty carton

All dog-eared and flattened out

For hours of innocent ex-box fun

MY WORST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER # 1

My worst Christmas present ever

I thought I would be lucky to receive

It was big and so full of possibilities

But it really flattered to deceive

Beneath the coloured paper

That hinted at hidden promise

It turned out to be a cardboard box

Containing only emptiness

My mum was watching me intently

And my disappointment hurt her

My cheapskate dad then told me

It was an Action Man deserter

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – LITTLE WOMEN (1949)

Little Women is Louisa May Alcott's autobiographical account of her life with her three sisters in Concord, Massachusetts in the 1860s and is a “coming of age” drama tracing the lives of four sisters: Meg (Janet Leigh), Jo (June Allyson), Beth (Margaret O'Brien) and Amy (Elizabeth Taylor), who struggle to make ends meet in their New England household while the girl’s father, Jonathan (Leon Ames), is away fighting in the Civil War.

I his absence the family is headed by the girl’s beloved mother Marmee (Mary Astor), and the March family are supported by the help of their kind and wealthy neighbour, Mr. Laurence (C. Aubrey Smith), and his high spirited grandson Laurie (Peter Lawford).

The story details the March girl’s passage from childhood to womanhood and despite harsh times, they cling to optimism, and as they mature, they face blossoming ambitions and relationships, as well as tragedy, while maintaining their unbreakable bond as sisters.

The other pivotal characters in the story are Aunt Kathryn March (Lucile Watson) and Prof. Friedrich Bhaer (Rossano Brazzi).

CHRISTMAS DAY IN THE WORKHOUSE # 5

It’s Christmas Day in the workhouse

Just another grey day to endure

Jamie Oliver is cooking the dinner

So, no Turkey Twizzlers in store

A QUIET MAGIC DESCENDS

Oh how a quiet magic descends

Upon the streets on Christmas day

As it’s the one day of the year

The shops are closed all day
