THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – FELIZ NAVIDAD (2014)

 

After a breakup, hard-partying twenty-something Jenny (Anna Kendrick) moves to Chicago to stay with her older brother Jeff (Joe Swanberg) to get over it.

Jeff is a young filmmaker living a happy existence with his novelist wife Kelly (Melanie Lynskey) and their two-year-old son.

Irresponsible party animal Jenny's arrival disrupts their quiet existence as she and her old friend from high school, Carson (Lena Dunham), and between them they remodel Kelly's outlook in her personal life and literary career.

Simultaneously Jenny strikes up a tempestuous relationship with the family's babysitter Jude (Jude Swanberg) who is also a pot dealer, in short perfect recipe for a Happy Christmas.

A tired Detective (Johnnie Walker) who is overwhelmed by the out-of-control crime wave sweeping the City.

On Christmas Eve, his wife calls him and asks him to stop at the store to pick up a last-minute Christmas gift, and when he returns to his truck, he is taken hostage by two girls, Melissa and Liz (Jessica N. Jimenez and Kailey Martinez).

He is brutally attacked and robbed after they discover he’s a cop and it looks unlikely he’s going to make it home for Christmas dinner with his wife and daughter (Tiffany and Mia Walker) it’s up to his partner Marcus (Jeff Dolecek) to track him down and save the day.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – SANTA BABY 2: CHRISTMAS MAYBE (2009)

 

Santa (Paul Sorvino) is ready to let his business-minded daughter, Mary (Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg), take over the family business as he's tired of the responsibilities of the job.

Mary of course feels torn between the North Pole and running her successful marketing firm in New York City, while balancing a relationship with Luke Jessup (Dean McDermott).

However there is trouble at the pole in the form of Teri (Kelly Stables), a mysterious and ambitious newcomer who wants to be the new Santa and is sneakily manipulating people to make that happen.

So it’s up to Mary get to bottom of the skullduggery and  straighten things out in time to save Christmas.

Daniel Anderson (Brad James) is the heir to the Anderson Corporation throne and is about to turn 30 and more importantly to his well-intentioned meddling parents he is single.

So they decide to throw a ball, on the pretext of launching his new charity but in reality, it is to find him a life partner and get him to settle down and invite a host of eligible single ladies.

Event planner Lizzie (Erica Hubbard) wins the bid to organise the event and as she and Daniel work together on the plans for the ball and an attraction form between them, but will it come to anything with all the plotting socialites with their sights set on Daniel.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – EBENEEZER (1998)

 

A reworking of Charles Dickens well spun yarn of redemption.

This retelling of the story is set in a Wild West Town where Ebeneezer Scrooge (Jack Palance) a heartless grasping bitter old miserly land baron, gunfighter, and cheating card sharp who is visited on Christmas Eve by the ghost of his old partner Jacob Marlowe (Richard Halliday), who scares him with tales of hell and warns him he will have further visitations to give him a long-overdue attitude adjustment and show him the errors of his ways.

The first visitor is the ghost of Christmas Past (Michelle Thrush), the second visitor is the ghost of Christmas Present (Richard Comar) and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come is (Morris Chapdelaine).

Between them they force him to face the consequences of his skinflint ways, and as a result he becomes a caring, generous, amiable man and discovers the true spirit of Christmas.
