Ella Chandler (Shannon Elizabeth) owns and runs a hardware store in a small Colorado town. where after years of trying, manages to purchase an old, abandoned house, that she plans to renovate.

Ella is ecstatic to finally be in possession of the old mansion, however the day after moving in, Russell Lewis (Daniel Cudmore) the long-lost heir of the original owner suddenly shows up with his 10-year-old son to reclaim it.

Unable to get an immediate ruling from the Town council on its ownership, and both being homeless at the time, they reach a compromise where they cohabit the house while Ella works on the repairs.

After a shaky start, things settled down into a routine and with the three of them sharing the house in the runup to Christmas the relationship changes from adversarial to romantic.
