THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – A CHRISTMAS OF WONDERS (2024)

For the first time in years globetrotting travel writer Eliza Gardiner (Krystin Arroyo) finds herself at a loose end after her travel magazine assignment gets cancelled, so she returns to her hometown of Maryville for Christmas with her parents, Nora and Jim (Sarah Kent and Ben Lomu) and her siblings Austin and Kate (Dave Martinez and Emma Andreasen Moore).

She is surprised to find that not much has changed in the town despite the passage of time, and her Christmas loving family continues to participate in all of the same old family traditions, wearing ugly Christmas sweaters, singing at the local care center, Christmas baking and all the other festive events.

And it’s while she is participating in all the familia activities, that she is reunited with old flame Will Matthews (James Gaisford), who helps her reconnect with her family and the season and rediscover the beauty of what she had been missing with her family and her hometown.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – SANTA STOLE OUR DOG (2017)

Struggling toy designer Nathan Whitehaven (Yves Bright) is separated from his wife Janice (Carrie Schroeder) and for Christmas he bought his kids Tommy and Suzie (Chase Pollock and Lexi Golden) a rescue dog called Rusty.

However on Christmas Eve, Santa Claus (Edward Asner) accidentally flies off with Rusty which isn’t discovered until he returns to the North Pole so he has no idea where he acquired the stowaway and can only narrow it down to somewhere between Arizona and Japan.

So Nathan takes the kids on an epic journey through the twelve days of Christmas starting with his mum (Elaine Partnow) in Canada then onto the North Pole via Alaska to get their beloved dog back and reunite the family.

(Note of warning, the last ten minutes goes into a global warming narrative which I don’t want to see in a Christmas movie)
