THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – CHRISTMAS EXPLORER (2021)

 

Planning on spending Christmas at home, Cartographer Emilia Martin (Humberly González) gets a last-minute assignment just before Christmas from her boss Horace Latimer (Michael Gordin Shore), to design a novelty treasure map of the North Pole for children.

As she always likes to include as much factual information in her maps as possible, she is advised to collaborate with a famous photographer and explorer Drew Campbell (Ronnie Rowe) who has firsthand experience of the North Pole.

It is clear from the outset that they are mismatched in their approach which brings a level of tension between them but as they start to work  together something other than tension develops between them.

She is a big city commercial real estate broker visiting her family for Christmas having just broken up with her boyfriend.

Whereas he is a professional hockey player who has just been traded to play for minor league team, the Idaho Falls Fighting Trout.

They meet again when they realise, they have the wrong cards and end up spending time together in the hockey mad town where they reveal their goals to each other,

But the more time they share enjoying the Christmas festivities as they start to fall for each other and adjust their goals accordingly.

On the eve of the release of the latest instalment of the series he takes to social media and goes on a harsh anti-Christmas rant about Christmas being a commercialized joke which ruffled more than a few feathers.

So the publishing house call on their PR-guru April (Lyndie Greenwood) to rescue the situation.

She begins by tricking him into going to his hometown that was the inspiration for his books.

They are like chalk and cheese and April wonders if it’s even possible to save his image, but as they get to know each other better, she gets into his heart and helps him rediscover the spirit of Christmas.

At Christmastime Jessi (Isabella Blake-Thomas) was raised by her Grandma (Mama Char) after her parents were killed in a car crash and has a bad case of envy, after constantly comparing her life to similar aged women on social media who appear to “Have it All” whereas she is struggling in a low paid job at the cinema and drowning in student debt.

After her boyfriend breaks up with her and she loses her job she goes down a very dark path and contemplates suicide.

It takes and intervention from Saint Nick (Joel Christopher Payne) to show her the consequences of her succeeding in her attempt and helps her find the silver lining in her life and regain her Christmas spirit.
