On Christmas Eve in Wales, young Thomas (Mathonwy Reeves) is naturally excited about Christmas but is disappointed due to the weather as it was raining instead of snowing.
As
a result in order to cheer him up, his grandfather (Denholm Elliott)
gives him an old snow globe as an early Christmas present and begins to regale
him with stories about his childhood Christmases.
Thomas
enjoys them greatly and keeps asking his grandfather for more because he
doesn't want to go to bed but his parents finally insist that he goes to bed.
Once
Thomas is in bed, he lies in bed listening to his family singing carols
downstairs until he finally falls asleep.
At
the end of the evening when his grandfather opens the bedroom window and sees
falling snowflakes he smiles.
