THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – SEASON'S GREETINGS FROM CHERRY LANE (2024)

 

The story centres on Christmas Eve at 7 Cherry Lane over a period of 73 years beginning in 1951 with Doctor, Charlie (Corey Cott) and his wife Joan Lizzie Hamilton (Annabelle Borke) who want Christmas to be as he is about  to be shipped out to serve in Korea but their carefully planned Christmas Eve is thrown into disarray when she suffers a minor fracture to her arm.

 

In 2003 newly married couple, Luke and Sarah Chen (Shannon Kook and Sarah Dugdale) are having their first Christmas in their new home and are hosting both sets of in-laws for Christmas Eve dinner which severely threatens to upset their normally aimable relationship.

 

And in 2024, it’s the first Christmas with their adopted daughter Tina (Milana Wan) for couple Mike and Zian Harrelson (Jonathan Bennett and Vincent Rodriguez III) as they try to arrange special Christmas surprises for each other but keeping them a secret was harder than they thought and both have to enlist the help of their friend Quinn Lewis (Robert Moloney).

 

Amidst the trials and tribulations of the three featured Christmas Eves there are characters that thread their way across the years.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – THE PICTURE OF CHRISTMAS (2021)

 

Manhattan graphic designer Ember Morley (Chelsea Hobbs) is also an aspiring storybook illustrator.

But when she learns that her Grandmother has bequeathed her Christmas tree farm in Willow Hill to Ember, she travels back to her hometown in order to sell it.

At the farm she meets the handsome caretaker Brandon Hart (Giles Panton) and she is  convinced to stay a little longer and help plan their annual Christmas Tree Festival.

When forced to work together Ember finds herself reminded of past Christmases as seasonal magic and Christmas romance take her by surprise.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – SNOWY WITH A CHANCE OF CHRISTMAS (2024)

 

Meteorologist Gwen Marley (Andrea Brooks) is the weather presenter on her local TV station which needs a boost in ratings and quickly to save their jobs.

She sugests a plan to partner with a local charity to generate goodwill for the station and film daily segments to promote it and reluctantly the station manager Gus (Damon Gregory) agrees.

So with the green light she approaches Adam Docker (Giles Panton) who runs a Christmas toy drive, and his son Kevin (Elijah Fox) and eventually convinces Adam to feature his charity drive on TV.

Its not an easy task because of Adam's very serious demeanour which threatens to dampen Gwen's cheerful holiday spirit, but she is made of sterner stuff and refuses to give up, and in the end, she managed to warm his heart with her love.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – MISSION JOYEUX NOËL (2024)

 

Chicago-based interior designer Rose Demonte (Ashley Greene) is reluctantly lured back to her Ohio hometown by her brother Sal (Danny Pellegrino) to help  complete a charity project in time for Christmas which is behind due to a significant hole in the budget.

She hasn’t been home at Christmas since her mum died so there are tensions when she discovers her brother’s business partner Brysen Douglas (Wes Brown), her nemesis from high school, is living with her Aunt Gigi (Carolyn Hennesy) at the old family home and has to share a bathroom with him.

However because of the time pressures they are forced to work closely together and due to the season and Christmas magic and despite their mutual dislike of each other their feelings soften into romance.

Anne Garrison (Brooke D'Orsay) is head toy buyer for Sinclair's chain of department stores and is riding high when she leaves New York City for North Bay, Maine, to help her father Bill (Ron Lea) close up his store, Garrison's Toys, due to his impending retirement.

What he wants is for Anne to take over the store and run it, but she already has a job, which she keeps reminding him.

So, her mindset is very much on packing up the store and returning to the City, but then she meets Wood Mill manager Keith McClain (Trevor Donovan) and his ten-year-old daughter Jessie (Jenna Weir) and her mind is not quite as set as it was.

In part its due to a set of themed wooden Santa’s which Anne carved just before she went away to college, which seem to work magic for the people who receive them.

But also, it’s the love and nostalgia that brings the city girl back to her small-town roots.
