THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS (2018)

 

Executive P.J. (Johnathan Robinson) is forcefully persuaded into going home for Christmas by his boss Mr. Hugh (Jonathan Sorapuru) despite being expected to spend Christmas with his girlfriend Lauren (Lauren Bachtel) and her family.

After not seeing his family for over seven years, the entire family returns home to New Orleans for the Christmas season, including his father Phillip Jones Sr (Calvin W. Hall) who had, unknown to him, reunited with his mother (Heliana Simon).

So, he immediately calls the airline to get a flight back to Texas, when that fails, he decides to drive, but his brother Kevin (Jeffrey J. Ambrose Jr.) sabotages his car.

After getting reacquainted with his brother and his crazy aunts and uncles and numerous cousins he reconnects with his high school sweetheart, Rebecca (Jessica Legaux).

Arguments with his father and a heart to heart with his mum he is reminded of the importance of love, family and forgiveness.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – MOLLY AND ME (1945)

 

A vivacious out of work actress Molly Barry (Gracie Fields) is in dire need of a job, so she applies for a job as housekeeper to former MP John Graham (Monty Woolley) and she gets the job by "playing the part" of an experienced housekeeper, she discovers that Peabody the butler (Reginald Gardiner) is also an out of work theatrical.

Mr. Graham, divorced from his wife (Doris Lloyd) and estranged from his son Jimmy (Roddy McDowall), lives alone with a staff of dishonest servants, so Molly takes action by sacking the servants and shaking the life back into the master, while helping him to reconnect with his son.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – LUX VIDEO THEATRE, HOLIDAY AFFAIR (1955)

 

Holiday Affair is the Christmas season romance about a young widowed single mom Connie Ennis (Phyllis Thaxter) who is raising her son Timmy (Christopher Olsen) alone while avoiding accepting the marriage proposal of her longtime boyfriend Carl Davis (Elliott Reid).

Quite by chance, a department store salesclerk, Steve Mason (Scott Brady) enters her life and complicates matters when the two quickly fall in love.

Ultimately, she must choose between her safe relationship with Carl and the more exciting attraction she has for Steve.

So, who will she choose?

The eccentric wealthy Pidgeon family prepare for Christmas in their usual lavish style, but the head of the family James C. Pidgeon (Eugene Pallette) is facing bankruptcy.

In order to impress their friends and neighbours during the holiday season they adopt a Christmas Charity case Anthony Marchand (Joseph Schildkraut), a washed-up actor with a drinking problem who has attempted suicide.

But they also invited Florie Watson (Ona Munson) but only because, unbeknown to her, she is the beneficiary of the Pigeons wealthy uncle’s will, in order to prevent her from being found by the lawyers.

But when the story breaks in the newspapers they leave the city for a place the country, so will being in close proximity in a remote house make them continue the deceit or will they learn the truth gift of giving.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL (2021)

Maria (Jessica Camacho) is a chef who dreams of having her own food trucks, but lacks the finances to fulfill them, to make matters worse she loses her job as a sous chef.

With no family of her own she lives with her best friend Brooklyn (Luisa d'Oliveira) who she thinks of as a sister.

While she tries to get jobs as a chef, she has to rely heavily on working as a ride-share driver.

Just before Christmas she gets a job to drive the hotshot lawyer Julian (Adam Rodriguez) the 100 miles his family home in Briar Ridge for the holidays.

Upon their arrival the family mistakenly assume Maria is his girlfriend and as he wanted to impress them, so he asks her to pose as his girlfriend and as compensation he promises to help her start her food truck business.

She agrees, but things get complicated as real sparks begin to fly between them and it turns out that both of them get more than they bargained for. 

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – SECRET SANTA (2000)

 

Gordon Covington (D.L. Green) is a greedy workaholic used car salesman who is constantly breaking promises to his wife Carla.

(Debra Rich) and son Teddy (Harrison Myers) and he even tells Teddy that Santa doesn’t exist.

This year he lets them down again when his mean dishonest boss Mr. Ambrose (Robert Quarry) dangles the promise of a promotion under his nose and throws himself into it without a thought for his family, so Carla and Teddy.

This prompts the intervention from the North Pole in the form of an Elf named Lillith (Tina Lucarelli) who tries to persuade him to change his ways and when that failed a six-foot Elf called Randy, appears and turns him into Santa Claus.

Between the two of them they manage to teach him the true meaning of Christmas so he can make up with his family.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – CHRISTMAS, PROPOSAL (2021)

 

When Soldier Jason (Joshua T. Shipman) and his girlfriend Carla (Lily Nicole) were going through a rough patch he approached his commanding officer to request a posting overseas, the further the better.

A year later he finds out he has been posted to Japan for an indefinite period.

Worse than that he can only take Carla with him if they are married before he is posted, which is the New Year.

But before he can tell her she blurts out that she would never want to go to Japan, she he drops the subject while they go and spend Christmas with her family and has a battle to win them over.

But he still has to win her over, which might prove more difficult than he thinks.
