THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – JOSEPH L. MANKIEWICZ' CAROL FOR ANOTHER CHRISTMAS (1964)

 

A modern reworking of Charles Dickens well spun yarn of redemption.

This retelling of the story in which industrial tycoon Daniel Grudge (Sterling Hayden) a heartless bitter man who is visited on Christmas Eve by the ghost of his dead son Marley (Gordon Spencer), who scares him with tales of hell and warns him he will have further visitations to give him a long-overdue attitude adjustment and show him the errors of his ways.

The first visitor is the ghost of Christmas Past (Steve Lawrence), the second visitor is the ghost of Christmas Present (Pat Hingle) and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come is (Robert Shaw).

Between them they force him to face the consequences of his skinflint ways, and as a result he becomes a caring, generous, amiable man and discovers the true spirit of Christmas.
