THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – THE DOG WHO SAVED CHRISTMAS (2009)

 

Ex Police Dog, Zeus (voiced by Mario Lopez) is rescued from the pound by George Bannister (Gary Valentine) much to the displeasure of wife Belinda (Elisa Donovan) and the delight of Kara and Ben (Sierra McCormick and Charlie Stewart).

George eventually wins Belinda over after a spate of local burglaries are reported in the newspaper because of Zeus’s history as a police dog, however after it transpires that he has lost his bark, he is destined to be returned to the pound after the holidays.

So, when the family all go to spend Christmas Eve with Grandma Bannister (Mindy Sterling) Zeus is left alone, which is the night that burglars Ted Stein (Dean Cain) and Stewey McMann (Joey Diaz) intend to rob the house.

It’s up to Zeus, aided by Cat Lady (Adrienne Barbeau), to find his bark to thwart the burglars and save Christmas?  

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER -- MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET (1947)

 

There have been two versions of Miracle on 34th Street and both are well worth watching.

It’s the story of a child, Susan Walker (Natalie Wood) who has been brought up by her mother Doris (Maureen O'Hara) not to believe in Santa Claus however she unknowingly employs the real Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwenn) to be Santa Claus at Macy’s department store and the more time Susan spends with Kris the more she believes.

However, Kris is arrested and has to go to trial where Fred Gailey (John Payne) has to prove he is the real Santa and is not insane.

Apart from being a hugely enjoyable film its notable that Natalie Wood stole the show and out shone Santa.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER –DEBBIE MACOMBER'S CALL ME MRS. MIRACLE (2010)

Mrs. Merkle (Doris Roberts) as if by holiday magic pops up in a family-owned New York City department store as a sassy saleswoman, but no one remembers hiring her.

She gets to work quickly on her boss Jake (Eric Johnson) and his dad, JR (Tom Butler) who have a strained relationship to say the least.

Her mission is to help JR rediscover the magic of Christmas while helping along a romance with Jake and Holly (Jewel Staite).

Holly is a beautiful but put-upon assistant to a fashion designer, Lindy Lowe (Lauren Holly), and is also the legal guardian to her nephew, Gabe, while her brother is overseas with the army.

But before long with her unquenchable and infectious spirit, she has things under control at the store, but Mrs. Miracle still had a lot of work ahead of her in order that it is a magical Christmas for all. 

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – CHRISTMAS CUPID (2018)

 

At Thanksgiving dinner with her family, single College Literature Professor Holly, (Elisabeth Harnois) announces that she has had an article published in a prestigious journal but is soon overshadowed by the revelation that her married sister is pregnant.

So, she is forced to evaluate her life and is persuaded by her best friend Emily (Sasha Jackson) to sign up to a dating app.

After her first three dates didn’t go well, she was ready to throw in the towel rather than risk meeting another “frog” but then she is paired with a “prince” and arranges a date with Lawyer Josh (Chad Michael Collins) who is gorgeous, but she thinks he is all good looks and no substance.

Josh, being a serial womaniser doesn’t want to let a beautiful woman slip through his fingers, so he enlists the help of college roommate David (Jonathan Togo) who is also a Literature Professor at the same college as Holly.

Using the promise of an interview for a lucrative job he persuades David to write love poems to Holly on his behalf in true Cyrano De Bergerac style.

What widowed single parent David is unaware of is that the girl in question is the object of his own affections.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – GIRLFRIENDS OF CHRISTMAS PAST (2016)

 

When Livvy Beal (Tammin Sursok) is cruelly dumped by boyfriend Anderson Whitmire (John Brotherton) on Thanksgiving when she was expecting a proposal, she wants revenge and finds allies in two other “Anderson” dumpees, Murphy McCall (Lindsey McKeon) and Zoe Swann (Abigail Klein).

So the three strong-willed women join forces to seek the ultimate revenge on their cheating ex.

It begins with event planner Livvy visiting Andersons office where three things happen, first she discovers the identity of her replacement in the life of her ex, Megan Walton (Meagan Holder), she meets Andersons charming colleague Carter Bolton (Brent Bailey), and most significantly secures the job of organizing a very important Holiday event being hosted by their target for vengeance, which Carter is organizing.

But will the three vengeful women follow through on their plot or will they choose to forgive and forget.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – LOVE STRIKES TWICE (2017)

 

After her children’s book writer husband Jack (Tilky Jones) reluctantly signs the divorce papers, workaholic event planner Caroline (Katrina Begin) is on her way to drop them off when she is hit by a car and when she wakes up, she has lost her memory.

She doesn’t even recognise her nearly ex-husband Jack in fact has no recollection of being married.

So Jack and her parents make the decision to take advantage of Caroline's memory loss and correct her flaws and erase past mistakes, by hiding from her the divorce and the fact she runs her own business.

So, Jacks mission is to make his wife fall in love with him again and save his marriage before it's too late, but life isn’t as simple as that.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – CHRISTMAS CALENDAR (2018)

 

Abby Sutton (Kat Graham), a struggling, but talented photographer who works for her unappreciative boss Mr. Singh (Ali Hassan), and her job during the Holidays is photographing kids sitting on Santa’s lap.

So, when her oldest and closest friend, Josh Barton (Quincy Brown) returns from his globetrotting travels he is immediately recruited as an elf along with his friend Fernando (Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll).

But when her Gramps (Ron Cephas Jones) gives her the antique advent calendar that belonged to her grandmother, she discovers that when the doors open each day the gifts inside seem to predict the future.

And although she believes in the Magic, she is unsure if the future will lead her to love, or with who, the new man in her life Ty Walker (Ethan Peck) or the man who has always been in her life, Josh.
