When
retired Manhattan cop Mike Halligan (Mickey Rooney) is widowed he moves to
California with his daughter Kate Westin (Barrie Youngfellow) and her husband
Rick (Gary Bayer) and he bonds with his grandson Robbie (Scott Grimes).
This
Christmas as soon as school breaks up for Christmas, he is taking Robbie to New
York because he has never seen snow before so he can experience a real white
Christmas.
But
while Robbie is walking home from school Mike dies from a sudden heart attack.
While
he is queuing to go through the pearly gates, he makes a deal with the
Archangel of Heaven (George Gaynes) to return to Earth for a week until
Christmas to find a missing angel, Wiley Boggs (William Griffis) and show his
grandson the seasonal glories of New York City at the same time.
So,
after stunning his family and the paramedics he comes back to life and then
kidnaps Robbie and heads to New York.
So,
will they track down Wiley Boggs and save Christmas?
