THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – A NEW LEASE ON CHRISTMAS (2021)

 

Becky (Claire Coffee) is a single Chicago real estate agent who shares a flat with Nicky (Elizabeth Friedman) and Nicky’s father Robert (Paul Wilson) hires Becky to evict  a handsome shop owner Jake (George Stults) from her favourite coffee shop she has been frequenting for three years.

She’s in no position to turn the job down though she is reluctant to accept it because she had long since fallen in love with him.

Perhaps the all-knowing bell ringing Santa Claus (Jerry E England) who stands outside the coffee shop can resolve the problems.

While she’s asleep she dreams of returning to her hometown in Vermont, accompanied by her children Michael and Dorothy (Michael Pearlman and Samantha Atkins) and her mother and deceased father (Joe Warren) and Aunt Minerva (Polly Holliday).

During the unexpected Christmas reunion with her beloved family she relives incidents from her past, which may provide the answers to her problems in the present.

The focus for 11-year-old Lisa Piper (Drew Barrymore) is helping her mother (Eileen Brennan) and caring her sibling Mary Piper (Jill Schoelen) so she has no time for toys.

On Christmas Eve a massive blizzard hits Cincinnati and Jack Fenton (Keanu Reeves) is driving Lisa and Mary home when Lisa is thrown from the Jeep and in true Wizard of Oz style finds herself in Toytown where the evil Barnaby Barnacle (Richard Mulligan) is trying to take over.

So Lisa, together with her new friends, must seek out the Toy master (Pat Morita) and ask for his help, but he can't help them as long as Lisa doesn't truly believe in the importance of toys which she must do in order to overthrow the evil villain, Barnaby.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – CHANCE OF SNOW (1998)

Chance of Snow is a heart-warming tale of a family’s special Christmas that offers an unforgettable lesson in love and trust.

The story begins when two sisters Maddie and Katherine (Jobeth Williams and Dey Young) and Maddie’s daughters Kirby and Ellie (Traci Christofore and Angelica Cassidy) head to the Minnesota St Paul airport to visit their mother’s home for the holidays.

Not long after their arrival they run into Maddie’s soon-to-be-ex-husband, sportswriter, Matt (Michael Ontkean) who is there to catch a flight to Miami to visit his father and while they are there a blizzard hits and deposits a blanket of snow and closes the airport.

Initially the uncomfortable situation leads to an argument which is overhead by Earl and Ruth, (Charles Durning and Barbara Barrie) a loving older couple who make it their mission to get Maddie and Matt back together for the holidays.

Trapped at the airport the two weary travellers suddenly find they have time to re-evaluate their relationship, and beyond the hurt and distrust that separates them, the warmth of family and wisdom of new friends leads them, eventually, to discover they have nothing more to do except fall in love again.

Katherine meanwhile who played her part in the reconciliation by taking charge of the children met up with former classmate Craig Johnson (Peter Syvertsen) and his son Jason (Evan Gabriel) and they found love of their own.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – CHRISTMAS COUPLES RETREAT (2023)

 

Three couples, Hannah and Daniel (Christene Marie and Vincent De Paul), Brenda and Caleb (Karina Michel and Tony Divirgilio) and Avery and Jocelyn (Dana Jamison and Sherrod Taylor) attend a book club Christmas getaway led by Dr Fiona Gerard (Vanessa Meadows), a famous therapist whose book they have been featuring at their book club, but she has feelings of her own to work through.

The couple’s book into to the Gramercy Park resort to strengthen their respective relationships, but not everything goes according to plan because Hannah and Daniels son Kevin (Brandon Tyler Russell) arrives at the retreat uninvited and falls for the manager Britney Snowfeld (Leah Villone) but no one sees the unexpected revelations coming.
