“The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol” is a delightful, animated version of
Charles Dickens classic tale.
Christmas
has arrived in the Smurfs village and Papa Smurf (Jack Angel) leads a group of
carolling villagers around the village and everyone is full of excitement
except for one miserable Smurf, Grouchy (George Lopez), who behaves very badly and
snarls at everyone that mentions Christmas and wants nothing to do with
anything that involve Christmas.
Even
Smurfette (Melissa Sturm) fails to get through to him, so Papa mixes up a magic
potion which he lets loose, and it makes its way around the village until it reaches
its destination, Grouchy Smurfberry Nog, and when he drinks it, he goes
straight to sleep.
When
he awakens the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future teach him to
appreciate Christmas.
Other
voices are provided by the vocal talents of Fred Armisen, Hank Azaria, Gary
Basaraba and Anton Yelchin.
