THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – MISTLETOE KISSES (2023)

 

Emerging photographer Dani McCalan (Humberly González) is overwhelmed by all the Christmas events and deadlines, so she tells her parents, Raquel and Luke (Gabriela Reynoso and Christopher Shyer) she’s not going home for Christmas.

Her dad asks her to do a favour for his old college roommate John Kasmerec (Barclay Hope) to meet his lawyer daughter Amelia (Ali Liebert) for coffee.

She reluctantly agrees and they have a pleasant interaction over coffee after which she is ambushed by her parents.

So with Amelia’s dad pressuring her to get back out in the world following a breakup with her girlfriend the Christmas before and Dani’s mother micromanaging her they decide that pretending to date in the run up to Christmas Eve is the perfect solution for them both.

But at some point, along the way, it becomes apparent that they are only pretending to each other.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – FRIENDS & FAMILY CHRISTMAS (2023)

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – THE CHRISTMAS STAND-IN (2021)

 After a moderate success as a director off Broadway in New York, Cassie Pruitt (Brooke D'Orsay) moves back to Dickens, her hometown where she has been appointed to direct a community theatre production of “A Christmas Carol” on Christmas Eve.

The play is the culmination of the towns annual Victorian festival but this  year it has particular significance as its the 100th anniversary.

All is going well until the actor playing Ebeneezer Scrooge loses his voice and a replacement needs to be found, or the performance will be cancelled.

Mayor Givens (Greg Rogers) suggests asking another Dickensian, action movie star Jake Dorsey (Kristoffer Polaha) however Cassie is reluctant to approach him as they have history, but she calls him and to her surprise he agrees.

She prepares herself to lock horns with him, on everything, but she is surprised again firstly when it turns out he isn’t just an action star, but is an astonishing dramatic actor, and secondly that the old feelings stir between them.

So will the show go on with a new leading man and will the star and the director have  a future together.

Jesse (Brittany Snow) gets dumped right before the holidays by her boyfriend Shawn Campbell (Alex Moffat)  and as he will not be spending Christmas with his family as he is staying in New York, she accepts an invitation from his parents Liz and Robert (Julia Duffy and George Wendt).

While she is there, she meets she meets his handsome cousin David (Justin Long) and they slowly fall for each other, but then Shawn turns up unexpectedly and on seeing David and Jesse together decides that he wants to get back with her.

So what will she do, go back to Shawn or take a chance on David?

Earl Bell (Raufel Muhammad) loses his family restaurant After being scammed by his son in law, which has a knock-on effect for the whole family.

So with Christmas fast approaching the three Bell sisters Sasha, Joanna and Miracle (Tecoya Harris, Shawnté Lewis and Thema Chapple) find themselves unattached.

So in order to kill two birds with one stone, with the objective of rebuilding their father's restaurant, they stage large weekend holiday mixers for singles with music, dancing and great food, with the possibility of unexpected romance.
