THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – THE CHRISTMAS STAND-IN (2021)

After a moderate success as a director off Broadway in New York, Cassie Pruitt (Brooke D'Orsay) moves back to Dickens, her hometown where she has been appointed to direct a community theatre production of “A Christmas Carol” on Christmas Eve.

The play is the culmination of the towns annual Victorian festival but this  year it has particular significance as its the 100th anniversary.

All is going well until the actor playing Ebeneezer Scrooge loses his voice and a replacement needs to be found, or the performance will be cancelled.

Mayor Givens (Greg Rogers) suggests asking another Dickensian, action movie star Jake Dorsey (Kristoffer Polaha) however Cassie is reluctant to approach him as they have history, but she calls him and to her surprise he agrees.

She prepares herself to lock horns with him, on everything, but she is surprised again firstly when it turns out he isn’t just an action star, but is an astonishing dramatic actor, and secondly that the old feelings stir between them.

So will the show go on with a new leading man and will the star and the director have  a future together.
