It’s one week before Christmas in the small quiet town of Eden Lake, Minnesota, where Hannah Swensen (Alison Sweeney) owns and runs a successful business, Hannah's Cookie Jar, bakery and café.
Success had come at a
price however because she had sacrificed the pursuit of romance while she focussed
on the business for most of her adult life, but now finds herself being wooed
by two men, who both know about the other man in her life, and Hannah likes
both men a lot, but has never even kissed them, either of them.
Her mother, Delores
Swanson (Barbara Niven), is pushing her into the arms of dentist Norman Rhodes
(Gabriel Hogan) as the person who will provide her with a stable and
comfortable life, her sister, Andrea Todd (Lisa Durupt), is pushing her into
the arms of police detective Mike Kingston (Cameron Mathison) who works with
her husband Bill, as he’s the more exciting choice.
But the choosing of a
boyfriend became the least important issue in her life to be resolved after she
is the person who finds someone murdered in Eden Lake, and the victim is one of
her customers, Larry Jaeger (Kirby Morrow), co-owner of the Crazy Elf Christmas
tree lot.
Fortunately she is an
able amateur sleuth who can’t resist a mystery and as a result, her sleuthing
brings her into the orbit of the Detective rather than the Dentist, and solving
the crime could just solve her other dilemma.
