Wall Street financier Everett Stone (Dermot Mulroney) returns home for Christmas with his uptight, liberal businesswoman girlfriend Meredith Morton (Sarah Jessica Parker) and introduces her to his eccentric and outgoing family's annual Christmas celebration and immediately feels like a fish out of water.

His ultra-liberal, anti-conventional, rustic Connecticut family with their free-spirited way of life doesn’t take to the outsider and Everett doesn’t seem to be supportive only his brother Ben (Luke Wilson) gives her a chance, and a weird romance blossoms.

In desperation she invites her easy-going sister Julie (Claire Danes) for moral support, but she’s no help at all because she ends up falling for Everett.

So everything works out in the end but not in the way they first thought.

The orphan drummer boy hates humanity but finds his life changed forever when he meets the three wise men en route to Bethlehem and joins them so that he and his drum can be at the birth of the newborn Jesus.

A delightful Animated film from the Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jr collection in which Sam the Snowman (Burl Ives) tells the tale of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer (voiced by Billie Mae Richards) whose father is one of Santa's reindeer.

But because of his shiny nose he is ostracized by the other reindeer and excluded from all the reindeer games.

So he teams up with wannabee Dentist Hermey (voiced by Paul Soles) and Yukon Cornelius the prospector (voiced by Larry D. Mann) and go off on an adventure but return to the North Pole on a foggy Christmas Eve and only Rudolf can guide Santa’s Sleigh.

After failing to excel at the postal academy Jesper (Jason Schwartzman) is rewarded for his position as the worst student, he is sent to a frozen island above the Arctic Circle and becomes Smeerensburg's new postman.

However the feuding locals barely exchange a word with each other so have little use for a postman.

However he does find kindred spirits in local teacher Alva (Rashida Jones), and  reclusive toymaker Klaus (J.K. Simmons) and the friendship returns love, joy and laughter to Smeerensburg.

When she arrives home and forces open her front door, amidst the mountain of Christmas mail she finds a special delivery intended for Santa Claus, the Naughty or Nice book which he had left behind while visiting a child.

Krissy uses the power of the book to expose the naughty deeds of those around her but soon finds that her newfound power can have devastating results.

Gabriel Tigerman is excellent as Krissie’s partner in crime at the Mall, Marco Webb and Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter put in convincing performances as her parents Walter and Carol Kringle.

A lonely woman, Hazel (Ashley Hays Wright) is given a golden doodle puppy for Christmas while her neighbour Paul (David Owen Wright) is a struggling  single father raising his daughter Diane (Scout Wright) hoping that this Christmas will be less traumatic than the previous year.

It’s the Christmas doodle who ensures they come together for a heartwarming Christmas.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – UNINVITED FOR THE HOLIDAYS (2022)

 

Michael Garvin (Tres D. Velasco-Gardenier) is a struggling father of two, Tyler and Kara (Dan Gardenier and Kylee O'Connor), and they are facing their first Christmas after his wife's untimely death.

To make matters worse his life is turned upside down when Johnny Aguilar (Joe Gawalis) arrives at his door to steal his car to make his getaway because he’s on the run from the mob but instead he decides to stick around and lay low, so he poses as Michael’s cousin Johnny, who the kids fall in love with.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – UP ON THE ROOFTOP (2015)

 

Toby (Voiced by Adam Hicks) is a smaller than average sized dog who has big  dreams, in fact he dreams of leading Santa's sleigh on the big night.

But no one believes it will happen, so he sneaks aboard the sleigh when Santa Claus (Dennis Haskins) goes on a test flight in the run up to Christmas resulting in Toby getting left behind at the suburban Iowa home of the Anderson family.

Together they manage to foil the dastardly plans to rob the mall by of a gang of crooks, the mall Santa and his incompetent elf henchmen, and most importantly find his way back to the North Pole.

A gentle, loveable, store clerk (Christian Barba) is walking home at the end of the day when he comes across two muggers (Jayvo Scott and Stephen Rodriguez) attacking Santa Claus (Tim Brown) so he rescues him.

After chasing the muggers away he picks up Santa’s hat and suddenly finds himself in the distant past where his is called Sir Klaus and is expected to fight to the death in the “Christmas Game of Champions” a medieval gladiatorial event traditionally fought between two opposing factions-the Butchers and the Greenfields, with the winner dining with Queen Ava (Misty Posey) on Christmas Day.

With the help of his squire Black Pete (Jackson Geach) Sir Klaus is victorious and with his victory he unites the two clans and then finds himself back in the alley being helped to his feet by his co-worker (Heather Danner).

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – MOMMA SAID COME HOME FOR CHRISTMAS (2023)

 

The matriarch of the family Dolly Roundtree (Jo Marie Payton) calls all her children home for Christmas with her and her husband Poppa (Buddy Lewis).

Their daughter Riri (JadaPaige) has never left home while their son Jarvis Roundtree (Sean Riggs) is a successful Football Player who fears he is at the end of his career.

To prevent his mother trying to get him back together with his ex Cecee (Shanti Lowry) he invites reporter Leticia (K.D. Aubert) to be his date for Christmas dinner and promises her an exclusive interview in exchange and just to spice things up a bit Momma’s nephew Slim (Brent Wise) shows up.

As a result the holidays prove to be full of surprises.

After Marie (Victoria Rowell) passes following a long illness the family is left with crippling medical bills making it impossible for them to keep their farm.

An enjoyable reworking of Charles Dickens well spun yarn of redemption.

This retelling of the story is set in Depression-era New England and is about a driven and heartless bitter old miser of a businessman, Benedict Slade (Henry Winkler) who on Christmas Eve is visited by the ghost of his old partner Jack Latham (Kenneth Pogue), who scares him with tales of hell and tells him he will have further visitation to give him a long-overdue attitude adjustment and show him the errors of his ways.

They appear in the guise of three of the people whose possessions he had seized that day against unpaid loans.

The first visitor was the ghost of Christmas past in the form of Book Shop owner Mr Merrivale (David Wayne), the second visitor was the ghost of Christmas Present in the form of the Orphanage head Jessup (Gerard Parkes) and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come is farmer Matt Reeves (Dorian Harewood).

Between them they force him to face the consequences of his skinflint ways, and as a result he becomes a caring, generous, amiable man and discovers the true spirit of Christmas.

She also decides to make a new will in which she denies Andrew controlling interest in the business, so he decides to have her declared incompetent.

So will the Private Investigator locate them in time for the Christmas Eve reunion and will they all return even if he does?

Although Astronomy Professor and Christmas nut Holly (Sarah Sanguin Carter) was upset when her longtime boyfriend Adam (Paul Popowich) schedules a business trip during the holidays she decides to travel to New York from Chicago to surprise him and to spend Christmas with her parents (Kathleen Laskey and Neil Crone).

She journeys by bus and meets a charming cowboy Luke (Damon Runyan) and they forge an instant connection over their love of constellations and Christmas. After the bus break he hires a car to complete the journey and she accompanies him so in the spirit of the season, she invites him and his brother Bull (George Canyon) to join her family for Christmas, but it causes competitive friction with Adam.

So who’s future will be written in the stars?

An unusual modern-day reworking of Charles Dickens well spun yarn of redemption.

This retelling of the story is of an unscrupulous loan shark, Eddie Scrooge (Ross Kemp) who on Christmas Eve is visited by the ghost of his former partner Jacob Marley (Ray Fearon).

He tells Eddie that he has lost sight of the things that are truly important in life and that he will have further visitation to show him the errors of his ways.

Eddie's Dad (Warren Mitchell) is the ghost of Christmas past, Jacob Marley reappears again as the Ghost of Christmas Present and Ghost of Christmas Future is an undisclosed boy (Ben Inigo-Jones)

But apart from the visitations there is a “Groundhog Day” element where he and the long-suffering Bob Cratchett (Michael Maloney)  keep reliving Christmas Eve until he learns real compassion, which he must do if he is to win back the heart of Bella (Angeline Ball) and

discover the true spirit of Christmas.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – THE LEGEND OF THE CHRISTMAS WITCH 2: THE ORIGINS (2021)

 

Paola (Zoe Massenti) is a young and reckless street urchin in 18th century Italy, who mistakeably thwarts the plans of a small and mean hunchback Baron De Michelis (Fabio De Luigi), with an intense hatred of witches and an unquenchable thirst for power, aided and abetted by his put upon minion Marmotta (Herbert Ballerina).

Paola is to be burned at the stake but is fortunately rescued the sweet and powerful Dolores (Monica Bellucci) a good witch who has devoted her life to children.

Dolores takes Paola under her wing as an apprentice and teaches her how to do magic, how to fly and perform transformations and how to get in and out of trouble on a series of adventures.

Ultimately Paola discovers that she has a destiny and the legend of Befana is born.

Mario (George Raft) a shady character exiled in South America, bankrupt playboy Michael (George Brent) and hard-drinking rodeo rider Jonathan (Randolph Scott).

So will she be able to locate them in time for the Christmas Eve reunion?
