Christina Rossi (Mia Kirshner) is preparing her
restaurant for its busiest time of year, which is also the first Christmas
without her mum.
Disaster
strikes when a pipe bursts and the restaurant has to close for a couple of
weeks
So
with time on her hands she decides to do a DNA test and reveals the results to
her friend Janet (Brandi
Alexander)
that she’s 50% Jewish, the discovery leads her to the Berman family, brother
and sister Scott and Becky (David Kaye and Advah Soudack)
and her birth mother Ruth (Marilu Henner).
She
also meets food critic David Singer (Ben Savage) who is also a
family friend and an unlikely romance blossoms over the eight nights Hanuka.
