John Tanner (Jason Robards) is a widower who doesn’t want to face the first Christmas after losing his wife alone, so he responds to an advertisement for “social introductions”.
The “Social Arranger” (Don Francks) introduces him to Iris (Julie
Harris) and the couple subsequently spend Christmas together with surprising
results.
It’s a lovely gentle movie, with thoughtful and sensitive dialogue and
a beautiful setting.
A film to sit back and relax to as the story quietly unfolds and
washes over you.
