A week before Christmas, Gary and Paula Ferguson (Bret Anthony and Nicole Eggert) are really struggling with paying the bills and don’t know how they are going to pay for food and gifts for Christmas.
Then Paula’s high school boyfriend Nick Brett (Le Bourveau) returns to
town, wealthy, successful and seemingly living the perfect life with his wife
Sheila (Stefanie von Pfetten), a perfect life that she could have been a part
of had she not married Gary instead.
On one particularly bad day she wishes she had stayed with Nick, so
she would be living a trouble-free life, and her wish comes true after pursuing
a voice through the tumble drier and emerging in a luxury house where she meets
her maid Martina (Patricia Mayen-Salazar).
Initially she is thrilled with the lavishly appointed house, well
stocked dressing room and luxury car, but very soon realises what she really
wants is to get back to her family and her old life.
