THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – ONLY YOU (1992)

 

Chicago doll house designer Clifford Godfrey (Andrew McCarthy) is attracted to the wrong kind of women, going for style over substance, and his latest stunning girlfriend dumps him on Christmas Eve a few hours before they are due to fly off to an island paradise for Christmas.

He goes to a bar to console himself and meets Amanda Hughes (Kelly Preston) a stunning fellow dumpee so he takes her away instead, but she proves to be a beautiful mistake.

While he’s there, he meets Clare Enfield (Helen Hunt) who he had met briefly in Chicago at the travel agency, but she does not fit the mould of his perfect woman, but she has something to give him that none of the glamour girls can give him, love.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – A CHRISTMAS CAROL (1969)

 

Ron Haddrick stars as miser Ebenezer Scrooge in this animated retelling of Charles Dickens' “A Christmas Carol”.

The classic tale in which he is visited on Christmas Eve by the ghost of his old partner Jacob Marley (Bruce Montague), who scares him with tales of doom and warns him he will have further visitations.

The first visitor is the ghost of Christmas Past (John Llewellyn), the second visitor is the ghost of Christmas Present (Bruce Montague) and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come, who teach him the true meaning of Christmas by revealing to him the truth about his own miserable existence, what opportunities he wasted in his youth, his current catalogue of cruelties, and the dire fate that awaits him if he does not change his ways.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – THE WISH THAT CHANGED CHRISTMAS (1991)

 

A beautiful, animated tale about an orphan named Ivy who is left all alone at the orphanage, so Miss Shepherd (Beverly Garland) puts her on a train to spent Christmas at a different orphanage in Appleton with strict instructions on which stop to get off at.

However, she mistakes a broken electric sign reading “Welcome to Ivy” instead of Mill Valley, so she jumps off the train and shouts, "It's me, Ivy!".

On the train she wished for a grandma and a doll but once in the town she finds neither until she is found by Officer Jones (William Boyett) who takes Ivy home to his wife (Tress MacNeille) who gives her a doll called Holly.

So, both of her wishes came true, and she never had to return to the orphanage ever again.

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER (1948)

 

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is beautiful, animated tale narrated by Paul Wing about a young reindeer with a shiny red nose who is bullied by the other reindeer and ridiculed for being different.

However, when Santa and his sleigh crash into some trees while attempting to deliver presents on a foggy Christmas Eve and he enlists Rudolph’s help to lead the sleigh and is hailed as a hero by Santa and the other reindeer.

Santa's Toys is a beautiful, animated tale based on the classic poem “The Night Before Christmas” narrated by Kenny Baker about a delivery to a houseful of children.

It begins when Santa lands on the roof and goes down the chimney where he opens his bag and the toys magically come to life to decorate the tree.

Soldiers shoot baubles from their cannon, a toy airplane dresses the tree with a string of garland, a toy firemen squirts snow onto the branches and a blimp delivers the star to the top.

When Santa is filling the stockings his laughter awakens the children, who sneak out of bed, and the toys rush to their places, as Santa escapes up the chimney in the Nick of time.

The other vocal talents are Bill Geiger, Leone Le Doux and Gunther Lessing.
