Grace McQueen (Jessica Tandy) moves in with her daughter Meg
Denton and son-in-law Norm (Tandy Cronyn and Richard Masur) and is eager to be useful in
the community, but fails when she fails, she finds her way to public-access
television and pays for a half hour slot reading children’s stories.
Scott (Chris Gartin) who records the sessions liked her story
telling and added some finishing touches to her program and as a result it
becomes very popular.
So
popular that Julie Pollard (Stephanie Zimbalist) from a large advertising
company hears it with her daughter Alexandra (Lisa
Jakub) and her boss Otis (Ed Begley Jr.) offers her a television series.
But
with the success of the show come complications and Grace takes drastic action
to nullify her contract and Julie is forced to realize that time is the most
valuable gift she could give to her daughter Alex.
