THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – HALLELUJAH (1993)

A Christmas tale about a young Reverend, Oliver Crawford (Dennis Haysbert) from Cleveland, is appointed as the new Pastor of the Hallelujah Church in Washington, D.C., and travels to DC with his teenage son Nat Crawford (Deon Richmond).

He is warmly welcomed by his assistant, Eunice Perry (Suzzanne Douglas) but not so much so by the self-appointed church committee, Elmira Pendleton, Minnie Thomkins, Deacon Conoly and Rev. Foy (Phyllis Bash, Rosanna Carter, Lex Monson and Ray Aranha) who never wanted him in the first place and have concerns about his age and single-parent status, and they give him two days to impress them.

In those two days he is challenged when he encounters a pregnant teen Kathrine Marie Campbell (Tracy Douglas) a homeless veteran Big Willie Thornton (Keith David), Mayor Turner (Phylicia Rashad) and the irascible neighbourhood atheist Old Man Taylor (James Earl Jones).

But its Christmas so it is the season for miracles.
