THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – A WISH FOR CHRISTMAS (2016)

 

Chicago based talented junior web designer Sara Thomas (Lacey Chabert) allows herself to be treated as a doormat and never speaks up for herself, even her best friend Molly (Andrea Brooks).

Its only when her big idea for a Christmas initiative is stolen by her line manager Dirk Tyson (Jason McKinnon) that she decides to walk away.

But she is given a gift by Santa (Howard Storey), a Christmas Wish, so  she wishes to finally have the courage to stand up for herself and Santa grants her wish, but it will only last for 48 hours.

Her first action is to confront Dirk for stealing her work in front of everyone at the Christmas party, the result of which is Dirk loses his job and company founder and CEO, Peter Williams (Paul Greene) chooses her to accompany him on a crucial business trip to Seattle to meet with a notoriously difficult client, Wilson Taylor (Michael Ryan) to pitch her idea.

So can Sara’s newfound acts of courage win the account and save the company and win Peters heart?

When journalist Taylor Nichols (Kayla Wallace) headed home to spend Christmas with Grandpa Frank (James M Jenkinson) she has two encounters with infantryman Captain Luke Malone (Kevin McGarry) who is home on leave.

The second meeting was on Christmas Eve, the anniversary of her mother’s passing, and the time when she lost the Christmas spirit, and Luke was able to lift her Christmas spirits during their short encounter.

A year later they met again when they both going home for Christmas, but this time  they spend more time together getting a chance to get to know each other and begin to fall in love.

But is there really a future for them with him serving overseas and her writing career really taking off?

It will take their next several Christmases to reveal the answer.

Peter (Michael Urie) feels his family's incessant judgment about his endless single status so in order to avoid it this Christmas he convinces his best friend Nick (Philemon Chambers) to pose as his boyfriend.

Peter's mother (Kathy Najimy) believing him to not be in a relationship as usual sets him up on a blind date with James (Luke Macfarlane) her handsome trainer

Needless to say all the plans go sideways.

Jules Daly (Katie McGrath) works in an antique shop in Buffalo while raising her orphaned nephew Milo Huntington (Travis Turner) and niece Maddie (Leilah de Meza) when they are visited by Paisley Winterbottom (Miles Richardson).

He has an invitation from Edward Duke of Castlebury (Roger Moore) the children’s estranged grandfather, to travel to Europe for Christmas.

Jules was reluctant to make the trip but the children have struggled emotionally since losing both their parents a year earlier so she hoped it would be good for them.

As it turned out it was good for her because although she felt out of her depth in the Castle, she found allies among the household staff, Mrs. Birch, Floyd and Abigail (Oxana Moravec, Alan O'Silva and (Madalina Anea) and she met dashing Ashton Prince of Castlebury (Sam Heughan) who she found herself falling for him.

But there is obviously no future for a Royal Prince and a poor girl from Buffalo, or is there?

When MI7 uncover credible evidence of a threat to the Royal family at Kensington Palace three weeks before Christmas, agent Claire Champion (Rachel Skarsten) is sent in undercover as a Nanny to keep Princess Elle (Isabelle Wilson) and Prince Robert (Phoenix Laroche)  and their mother Princess Rose (Katie Sheridan) safe.

With no experience with children Ms. Lansbury (Greta Scacchi)gives her some tips, and an umbrella.

Initially she has to thwart her charges attempts to prank her but she wears them down and wants to protect them even more and she finds an ally in Rose's younger brother, fourth in line to the throne, Prince Colin (Dan Jeannotte).

But as she overcomes challenges on her mission she loses her heart to the family and the Prince.
