It's
nearly Christmas in 1942, and Millie (Afton Grace Higbee) learns in her dance class that in the new year she
will be able to dance on pointe, and excitedly runs home to tell her parents,
but before she can she overhears them discussing their finances, and there is
no money for presents, so she knows that she won’t get her point shoes.
Her
and her siblings Grace and William (Scarlett Hazen
and Manning Hazen) still excitedly wait for Gramma
(Pam Eichner) to arrive with her special Christmas
apron, newly pressed and filled with generations of holiday memories.
It
was the family tradition, for each child in the house to write down the gift
they want the most and then put the pieces of paper into the apron's frilled
pocket.
But
on Christmas morning in 1942, will those wished-for gifts be waiting under the
tree?
