Every
year copywriter Joe Michaels (Angus Benfield) receives the dreaded “Christmas
Letter” from his wealthy British pen pal Clive detailing all the wonderful
thinks that the entitled Hammersmith family have done that year and every year it
makes him he feel like a loser and drives his wife Deb (Regina Schneider) insane.
Then
to make matters worse he is laid off so he decides the following year is going
to be different and cashes in his 401K and plans a year of extravagant activities
for Deb and Children, John and Caroline (Judah and Lainey Bonza), that he will
be able to put in his own Christmas Letter at the end of the year.
However everything that can possible go wrong, goes wrong and not only does he waste all their money but he drives a wedge between him and Deb, risking everything he holds dear, until conversations with Rich the Postman (Randy Quaid) and Barry the Bartender (Kristoffer Polaha) put things into perspective.
