Shortly after turning 16, Robert Mendham (Stephen Dorff) discovers that he was adopted, and to make matters worse his parents Philip and Martha Mendham (David Birney and Joan Van Ark) much to their horror they had just found out that he hadn’t been given up for adoption, he was stolen at the age of 2.

As a result, Robert runs away to find his birth parents Ruth and Earl (Patty Duke and Richard Masur) in Ohio.

When he finds them, he gets close to them, and his siblings John and Sally (Jarred Blanchard and Kimberley Warnat) without revealing his true identity.

However, he eventually must decide where he belongs.

When they visit a diner, they unknowingly meet an Angel (Patty Duke) who directs the to an empty house.

A series of kindnesses and coincidences gives the trio a chance at happiness especially when Police Captain Nathan Blair (David Conrad) comes not their lives.

But everything unravels on Christmas Eve and Emilie finds herself in front of Judge Nancy Jakes (Lynn Redgrave).

So, will they get the Happy Christmas they all deserve?
