THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT (1956)

Steve Morgan (Tudor Owen) owns a farm and stables, and the local children pay to ride his ponies among them are Rod and Donny Blaine (Stephen Wootton and Gary Hunley).

But Steve is an imbittered man still grieving the loss of his son in WW2, and his conversations with Postman Homer Link (Forrest Taylor) he is clearly cynical about life in general and Christmas in particular.

Rod and Donny both want a pony for Christmas, but their parents Julia and Austin (Dorothy Green and Chick Chandler) can only afford one, because of a gift of money from an aunt.

But when Rod goes to buy the horse, he stuns Mr Morgan by buying the Shetland for his brother, so Mr Morgans heart is softened by the boys' sacrifice, he makes a gift of the other horse.
