“A Cricket on the Hearth” is a delightful, animated
musical
version of Charles Dickens' classic tale, “A Cricket on the Hearth”.
A
cricket, Cricket Crocket (Roddy McDowall) tries to save a poor toymaker Caleb
(Danny Thomas) and his blind daughter Bertha (Marlo Thomas) after her fiancé
Edward (Ed Ames) was lost at sea.
After
tragedy struck the family, they fall under the influence of an exploitative
miser Tackleton (Hans Conried) who has designs on Bertha, thankfully Crocket
comes to the rescue and restores peace, prosperity and happiness.
