James
Michael 'Jimmy' Keenan (Jackie Cooper) is a young idealistic and hard-working
man, in New York City has dreams of making his fortune.
Along
the way he faces numerous obstacles, one of which is his mobster brother T.P.
'Tap' Keenan (Dick Purcell).
But
through all the opportunities and temptations, his hero Abraham Lincoln is
never far from his thoughts.
He
has people that depend on him like William McKinley 'Gimpy' Smith (Martin
Spellman) and Pop O'Toole (George Cleveland) as he runs a newspaper stand and
is studying to become a lawyer.
He
receives encouragement from Judge Carroll (George Irving) and his niece Anne
(Marjorie Reynolds).
So
will he see his dreams come true, or will they be grounds in the sidewalk of
New York's mean streets.
