THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – THE BELLS OF ST. MARY'S (1959)

Catholic Priest, Father Chuck O'Malley (Robert Preston) is sent to St. Mary's, a very run-down big city parochial school run by Sister Mary Benedict (Claudette Colbert) assisted by Sister Michael (Nancy Marchand).

The building was on the verge of being condemned, and Horace P. Bogardus (Charles Ruggles), the owner of a new building next door, wants to buy the building.

With different approaches, Father O'Malley and Sister Benedict indulge in a good-natured friendly rivalry but work together in an attempt to save the school, and work on Mr Bogardus to donate his building to the school.

The story of a group of nuns at the convent of St. Mary's and their efforts to convince a millionaire to help pay for the repairs to their poorly capitalized and decaying parochial school.
