Best friends, Nicky Beaton (Alison Sweeney) and Simone Cole (Erica Durance) grew up as next-door neighbours in Marsden, and they remained friends even though Nicky lived and worked in New York City and Simone lived in their hometown with her fifteen-year-old son Anthony (Glen Gordon) and Jeremy Winters (Michael Karl Richards) the new man in her life.
But when Nicky returns home for Thanksgiving she finds her parents,
Linda, and Dave (Iris Quinn and Fred Henderson) are selling the family home, so
she stays on to help with the packing, and dealing with the realtor Derrick
Marshall (Brennan Elliott).
During the packing Nicky discovers among a previously unseen Christmas
card concealed in one of her old schoolbooks, from a secret admirer, so she and
Simone set out to try to discover the identity of the author.
