Retired dancer Natalia Haddad (Jamie Gray Hyder), and would be principle choreographer at the Richmond ballet company, takes local salsa dance instructor Viviana Serrano (Laura Rosguer) under her wing as the Company begin rehearsals for the Nutcracker after Vivi failed to get the coveted role of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
At the same time
Natalia becomes romantically involved with theatre electrician Mateo (Ektor
Rivera) while Viviana finds herself falling for Justin Ortiz (Jaelin Taylor)
while they all strive to create a surprise reprise of the “Dance of the Sugar
Plum Fairy” with a very definite Puerto Rican twist.
