A
little girl (Lucy McGrath) is in her bed on Christmas Eve reading an
illustrated storybook to her teddy bear titled "The Monster's
Christmas".
As
she reads, something is skulking around in the trees outside her window and
when she hears a noise in another room, she thinks it’s Father Christmas and
goes to investigate.
But
instead of Santa she finds one of the monsters from her book, who has come to
life and wants help to defeat an evil witch who has stolen the voices of all
monsters because they sang Christmas carols better than she did.
The
girl agrees and a magical adventure ensues through smoky fields, magical
forests, boiling mud pools, volcanic landscapes, and a mountain cave lair.
