CHRISTMAS CHEER

I went to the pub with my brother

For a Christmas, lunchtime drink

While my wife cooked the dinner

And washed up at the sink

We got thrown out at 4 o’clock

Full of Christmas cheer and gin

We got home ready for Christmas lunch

And found it in the bin

CHRISTMAS POST

Mildred went to the post office

To buy stamps for her Christmas cards

“What denomination do you want?”

She was asked by Mr Everard

“That’s political correctness gone mad,

Has it come to this?” said she

“You’d better give me a book of Catholic

And a book of C of E”

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – ROYAL NEW YEAR'S EVE (2017)

Magazine assistant and aspiring fashion designer Caitlyn (Jessy Schram) has her world turned upside down when Prince Jeffrey (Sam Page) and his presumed future fiancé Lady Isabelle (Hayley Sales) come to town and Isabelle hires Caitlyn to design a dress for the Royal New Year's Eve Ball where Jeffrey is expected to propose, which could launch the fashion career she's always dreamed about.

However her boss Abigail (Cheryl Ladd) is determined to sabotage her, as Caitlyn spends her time creating a dress fit for a Princess with her friend Doris (Crystal Balint), and planning the Ball with Jeffrey.

Inevitably Caitlyn and Jeffrey begin to develop feelings for one another as the New Year's Eve Ball approaches but will Jeffrey's Royal commitment to marry Isabelle and assume the throne stands in between them, or will they overcome Royal tradition to pursue their happily ever after.

FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS CAROL # 17 IT CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR

It Came Upon A Midnight Clear - Written by Edmund Sears

From heavens all gracious King!"
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing.

Still through the cloven skies they come,
With peaceful wings unfurled;
And still their heavenly music floats
O'er all the weary world:
Above its sad and lowly plains
They bend on hovering wing,
And ever o'er its Babel sounds
The blessed angels sing.

O ye beneath life's crushing load,
Whose forms are bending low,
Who toil along the climbing way
With painful steps and slow;
Look now, for glad and golden hours
Come swiftly on the wing;
Oh rest beside the weary road
And hear the angels sing.

For lo! the days are hastening on,
By prophets seen of old,
When with the ever-circling years
Shall come the time foretold,
When the new heaven and earth shall own
The Prince of Peace, their King,
And the whole world send back the song
Which now the angels sing.

CHRISTMAS MORNING

Heralding the special day

As sweet undisturbed the cherubs lay

Early as Christmas day is dawning

The birds sing out on Christmas morning

Halleluiah, halleluiah cheer

Christ the savior’s day is here

And as awakes every little dear

One by one the lights appear

Yellow light piercing the darkness

Like stars populating heavens blackness

Until every house across the land is lit

To make a constellation to quite befit

A celebration across the earth

To celebrate the Christ Childs birth

Then with giggles and boisterous shout

The whirlwind kinder sets about

The present sack with great delight

Throwing paper to the left and right

And when they see the gifts inside

They’re open mouthed and wide eyed

Then peace restored after the early rout

The church bells call, the bells ring out

Good morning they seem to say

Merry Christmas on this special day

With purposeful step and a happy heart

We make our way to play our part

To give hearty praise and uplift

Rejoicing at the first Christmas gift

THE WORSHIPFUL MORN

The bells of Christmas ring out clear

On the special day across the land

Family and friends come together

With warm embrace or shake of hand

Then together answer the call to enter

The happy faces of young and old

Of those occupying every seat or pew

In the church bedecked in green and gold

Lifted the heart and warmed the soul

The glad ragged and dapper dressed

The cheerfully demeanoured little girls

And little boys with hair unmessed

All come together on Christmas day

To share the celebration and rejoice

To mark the birth of the baby lord

Love and peace heard in every voice

As in harmony the congregation sing

Heartily in praise of Christ the King

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – THE LIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS (2007)

After losing their way on a cold, snowy, blustery Christmas Eve, two children, Katie and Makean are rescued by their friend, the Candleman, an old sage who imparts wisdom, hot chocolate, and stories.

While seated comfortably in the warmth of his home he opens a weathered book, and begins reading the classic tale, The Night Before Christmas and magically, Katie and Makean become characters in the poem where they learn the light of Christmas comes from the giver of all good gifts.

This beautifully animated children’s movie is a pure delight and I can say no more than that to recommend it.
