Natalie Cameron (Kristina Cole) of The Pine Valley Family Farm secures
a huge order from Mr. Prentice (John McKerrow) who only purchases merchandise
from family businesses.
The order couldn’t come at a better time as there is a looming tax bill
to pay before Christmas, the only problem being that neither Natalie, Mary (René
Ashton), Carlos (Demi Castro), or Lisa (Amie Dasher) are related.
So, they are forced into pretending to be a family-run business during
the holidays until the tax bill has been paid after which they would come
clean.
However, as a result of Natalie’s less than factual blog extolling the
virtues of family, a major magazine sends a reporter named Josh (Andrew
Biernat) to profile
the company, and he is a fastidious fact checker.
As Josh spends time around Natalie and her "family" she must
convince Josh that her and Christmas traditions are all real.
Things are complicated when Lisa's friend, Dave (Marc Herrmann)
arrives and has to pose as her fiancé.
However, everyone struggles to keep up the façade and get more
complicated as he and Natalie are falling for each other and then Josh uncovers
the truth and is angry about being lied to, so is Mr. Prentice when Natalie
comes clean to him, but both come to see that the Christmas Tree Farm really is
a "family" effort.
