THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – A SANTA STORY (2017)

Struggling toy designer Nathan Whitehaven (Yves Bright) is separated from his wife Janice (Carrie Schroeder) and for Christmas he bought his kids Tommy and Suzie (Chase Pollock and Lexi Golden) a rescue dog called Rusty.

However on Christmas Eve, Santa Claus (Edward Asner) accidentally flies off with Rusty which isn’t discovered until he returns to the North Pole so he has no idea where he acquired the stowaway and can only narrow it down to somewhere between Arizona and Japan.

So Nathan takes the kids on an epic journey through the twelve days of Christmas starting with his mum (Elaine Partnow) in Canada then onto the North Pole via Alaska to get their beloved dog back and reunite the family.

(Note of warning, the last ten minutes goes into a global warming narrative which I don’t want to see in a Christmas movie)

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – THE ULTIMATE GIFT (2006)

After the funeral of Billionaire Oil Tycoon Howard 'Red' Stevens (James Garner) his dysfunctional family all gather at the office of his lawyer, partner and friend Mr. Theophilus Hamilton (Bill Cobbs) and his associate Miss Hastings (Lee Meriwether) to see what was in the will for them.

One by one they came and went from the room with Red’s stinging words still ringing in their ears.

Last but by no means least was Grandson Jason Stevens (Drew Fuller) who had spent most of his adult life as a Trust Fund brat until he was cut off from the family money and had been living off petty crime and begging.

Jason was singled out for special treatment as Red had every faith that he could redeem himself, so he was assigned twelve apparently simple tasks labelled “gifts” meant to challenge him and set him on a journey of discovery.

But it was meeting Alexia (Ali Hillis) and her terminally ill daughter Emily (Abigail Breslin) that changed his perspective of life and money, and becomes a better man than even his Grandfather expected and received the “Ultimate Gift”

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – A CHRISTMAS KAREN (2022)

An amusing reworking of Charles Dickens well spun yarn of redemption.

This retelling of the story is about Karen (Michele Simms), an entitled middle-aged woman whose demanding nature has alienated her neighbours and family.

She is a heartless grinch, racist, xenophobe, and homophobe, who hates everyone and everything and is seemingly irredeemable, however after a series of instances displaying her privilege and prejudice, she receives an “intervention” by some unconventional spirits.

Karen is visited in her Florida home on Christmas Eve. by the ghost of her former boss Jackie Morley (Meghan Moroney).

She tells Carol that she has lost sight of the things that are truly important in life and that she will have further visitation to show her the errors of her ways and save her from her own fate.

Her first visitor is Gary, the Ghost of Christmas Past (Rolin E. Alexis), followed by Joy, the Ghost of Christmas Present (Leyla Lawrence) and finally Damon (Lee Karlinsky) Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come.

Between them they open her eyes to her behaviour and show her what she is missing out on and help her discover the true spirit of Christmas and mend the rift between her and her brother Todd (Clint Robinson).

THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES EVER – A PRICELESS CHRISTMAS (2018)

An enjoyable and credible reworking of Charles Dickens well spun yarn of redemption.

This retelling of the story is of the owner of her own financial trading institution, Alexis Taylor (Toni Braxton), who is ruthless and driven and on Christmas Eve is visited by the ghost of her mother Lydia (Gloria Reuben).

She tells Carol that she has lost sight of the things that are truly important in life and takes her on a series of visitations to her past, present and future to show her the errors of her ways and discover the true spirit of Christmas and open herself up to love.
