Former Broadway performer Katherine Clark (Kristin Chenoweth) is the youth choir teacher with a problem.
Its Christmas time,
and the Christmas Eve concert is on the horizon, and every year they perform a
new song written specially for the concert, the sales of which provides their
funding for the following year.
The problem is that
their usual songwriter is unavailable so Katherine needs to write the big song
herself, which will keep them going for the coming year, but she is fighting an
internal battle over her personal confidence as she only had one hit as a
composer.
The second problem
came in the form of Danny, a boy with a beautiful golden voice (Kevin Quinn)
who she wants to sing a solo but she needs to overcome the objections of his
widowed father, Greg (Scott Wolf).
Despite being turned
down flat a determined Katherine decides to drive out to the Scanlon home to
plead her case with Greg to let Danny perform in the choir and is successful
when her bubbly personality wins Greg over but then, due to a violent snowstorm,
she finds herself stranded overnight as a house guest.
Over the following
weeks Danny practices for the solo as Katherine and Greg become a duet.
So, can they manage to
find love in the midst of self-doubt and parental responsibilities, and will
they weather the storm when the secret Danny is holding is exposed.
A Christmas Love
Story is a First-rate Christmas romance
Great storytelling,
great acting and a positive message of how music can heal old wounds.
